As a Denver native Maryjo is inspired by the landscapes of the West. Her watercolors are fresh and stimulating, inviting the viewer to visit the famous colors of Colorado and the Southwest. Keller received her BFA from the University of Colorado in 1972 and has been an artist and craftsperson ever since. She was a ceramist for 15 years. Painting remained a passion for Maryjo and in 1985 she decided to leave ceramics to give her full attention to watercolor.

“I would say that the focus and strength of my work is color. I am fascinated by the process of recreating colors from natural scenes and objects onto a two-dimensional surface. As I work to transform the image I want to simplify the shapes and make suggestions for the viewer to interpret. I always strive to keep the colors fresh and alive.”
