Name of Show "H2O12" Sponsored by One World, One Water— Celebrating Colorado Water 2012 through the arts.
Now seeking submissions for artwork that expresses your emotions or views relating to water— it’s value, beauty, use, abuse, etc. Pieces will be judged only on artistic merit and will not be censored according to political views.
This juried exhibition will be held in conjunction with the “Year of Water in Colorado”, which celebrates many efforts including the 75th anniversary of the legislation that created many of the water organizations that manage Colorado’s water resources. It will also serve to commemorate the creation of the new “One World, One Water” Water Education Program at Metropolitan State College and the installation of the large outdoor sculpture by the same name. Throughout the year 2012, “Colorado Water 2012” will be connecting Coloradans to their water through resources, events, and activities created by seven “Colorado Water 2012” Committees and by a coalition of over 200 volunteers statewide. Requirements: All media accepted, oil, acrylic, watercolor, drawing, ink, assemblage, print, collage, photography and sculpture (stone, clay, wood, paper, paper mache, bronze).
Art must be original, no reproductions, and may have been created at anytime. All 2D work must be ready to hang with a secure wire on the back. No saw-tooth hangers. All 3D work must fit through a standard size double door, and must not exceed 80 pounds. Sculpture must be sturdy and stand-alone. If the 3D work is to be hung on the wall it cannot exceed 25 pounds. No large installation pieces accepted due to space constraints.
Original artwork must be brought in person to the gallery. Please do not ship art, bring images, CD’s or other reproductions of your work. Artists are solely responsible for delivery and pick up of all artwork.
Schedule and Deadlines:
Work Drop off: Monday April 30th, 2-7 pm at 910 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO 80204 Announcement of accepted work via e-mail or phone: Tuesday May 1, 2012 Work not accepted into show must be picked up by: Wednesday, May 2nd from 3–7 pm. Work not picked up in a timely manner will be donated. Exhibit Dates: Friday May 4th-Friday June 29th, 2012 Artists Reception: Friday, May 18, 2012 from 5-9 Closing Reception: Friday, June 29th, 2012 from 5-9 pm Work pickup: Friday June 29th after 9 pm or Saturday June 30th, from 12-5 pm
Fees: Entry Fee: $15 per entry. Maximum 3 entries. Call for entry fees may be paid with cash or check at the time of drop off. No debit or credit cards accepted
Accepted work must be for sale at the exhibit. A 35% commission will be taken off the sale price.
Awards Awards of recognition will be given. Specific categories are to be determined. No cash prizes.
